THE SOLUTION  EP 2018

Living in today's world which is clearly ruled by Satan, I find that the ultimate answer or solution to EVERY problem is to follow the teachings of God the father through Jesus, our lord and savior. Think of the worst politician, corrupt CEO, criminal, terror group, shamed actor or business man or sports star and imagine if, instead of what horrible thing they did or continue to do, they instead followed Jesus and his teachings. They may still have the same social standing in life but they surely wouldn't be "infamous" for their misdeeds. Think of the world wide peace if Muslims no longer practiced Sharia law and or Islam but rather Christianity. I know the Jews around the world would sleep better, especially in Israel. Imagine if the most selfish person you know suddenly put the needs of others first as Jesus taught, that servitude is greater than than the opposite. JESUS, who sacrificed himself for our sins by his work on the cross and all his teachings are the solution from the smallest to the largest problems we face. If we ALL chose to practice what he taught or even just the ten commandments, how much more peaceful would the world be? We must pray for our enemies and those we disagree with, offering up unmerited love in hopes that they are inspired to find and follow Christ as we do. This is why I named this 5 song EP "The Solution".

Mysteries & Miracles

Are you worn? Are you torn? Do you wanna be reborn?

Are you burning inside to turn your life around?

Can you believe? Will you receive a position you could never achieve?

Are you willing to to learn and turn your life around?

I got mysteries, I got miracles, I got the everlasting truth

I got prophecy, I got promises

Time unraveling as all these come true

Will you choose the good news? What have you got to lose?

Are you willing to take a chance on something new?

I got mysteries, I got miracles, I got the everlasting truth

I got prophecy, I got promises

Time unraveling as all these come true

Oh, it's supernatural if you let it

Oh, and it's so beautiful if you let it

Oh, your life's a miracle if you let it

Oh, and it's so beautiful if you let it

I got mysteries, I got miracles, I got the everlasting truth

I got prophecy, I got promises

Time unraveling as all these come true

Oh, your life's a miracle if you let it

Oh, and it's so beautiful if you let it

The Solution

Our greatest weakness paves the path that leads to you

It's not just another gift, It's the need for you to pull us through

Without a doubt, you're my solution

Eternal in the comfort of your love

Without a doubt you're my solution

Eternal in the comfort of your love

He's the great solution, he who conquered death and sin

I'm born again now, let my new life begin

I'm born again, let my new life begin

Without a doubt, you're my solution

Eternal in the comfort of your love

Without a doubt, you're my solution

Eternal in the comfort of your love

Nowhere Fast

I can't understand why you double down on a bad plan

You  keep stretching that rubber bad

While you're hanging out with the damned

Draggin' around your past, going nowhere fast

(Ooooo) Going nowhere fast

There's only one way to strive, one way to survive

To spend the night in the lion's den and come out tomorrow alive

Draggin' around your past, going nowhere fast

(Ooooo) Going nowhere fast

Your life is a mess. It's like the demolition derby express

(Ooooo) Going nowhere fast

How many times did you say "I'll do this my way"

To end up all alone and out on the street?

You're going through the motions and that aint no way

That aint no way to be complete

Draggin' around your past, going nowhere fast

(Ooooo) Going nowhere fast

New Direction

Sometimes we search while we wait for our paths to merge

Sometimes our stubborn minds won't let our hearts converge

But it's a new day, going in a new direction

I'ts a vast change, a sinner's resurrection

It's a new day, going in a new direction

What a strange way to make a connection

My sweet, sweet Tessa, you're fighting back the tears

Fragile and exposed, trembling with fear

Re-living the years that brought you here

Re-living the years that brought you here

But it's a new day, going in a new direction

It's a vast change, a lost soul's transformation

It's a new day, going in a new direction

What a strange way to make a connection

Feeling abandoned and scared to step

To look beyond the walls that surround you

So say a prayer and take a slow, deep breath

I'm so glad I finally found you

And I thank the Lord above for your forgiveness

Cause I don't deserve the time of day

You learned as a child, straight from His word, forgiveness

So you turned around and showed me the same

Now it's a new day, going in a new direction

It's a vast change, a father's brand new start

It's a new day, going in a new direction

Only God could'a changed that heart

Forgiven

Every day, you wash up on the shore

A casualty of the night before

You let down the faithful crew once more

Every day, you wake up and look around

The crew is there, shipwrecked to the ground

Nowhere to spend the treasure you found

We all fall short. We are broken from the start

But by God's grace, we can be forgiven

Every day, you wake up lost in space

Trying to find yourself a reason or a place

Ignoring the gift you received in grace

We all fall short, We are broken from the start

But by God's grace we can be forgiven

We all fall short. We are Broken from the start

But by God's grace we can be forgiven

CHOICES CD  7/7/2017

Black Sheep

Since the beginning of this band, I've wanted to write a song that fired me up like AC/DC's live album with Bon Scott, the old AC/DC that just jammed! I love the bass at the beginning just grinding away while everyone else is playing the power chords. This song was meant to be cranked! It's super fun to play live and surprisingly, I pulled off a real high, Paul Stanley-ish line in the 1st verse as my range has increased. For fans who get the CD, this will be their introduction to our two AMAZING guitarists, Dave Nichols and Steve Langdon. These guys really tear it up! The content is about turning your life around and achieving the impossible with Jesus in your life and then bringing others in to the fold. We are all black sheep, unworthy of a relationship with God. That's why we need his Son to be our representative. When you are a believer, God doesn't see you or your deeds, He sees the work His Son did on the cross and you are accepted in to His family!

Word on the street says that the time has come

I got a new strategy now and I can't go wrong

Word on the street says I lost my mind

The wise man tells us never return to the scene of the crime

But you haven't seen the likes of me for a long, long time

I'm gonna shrink your thick skull right back down to size

I've seen the light!

Now I'm gathering the Black Sheep

I'm calling all the prodigal sons to me

Recruiting for the day that he will have an army full of Black Sheep!

You were so unwilling to paint your face for war

The prophecy fulfilling, the season to settle the score

You forgot what you always thought was a waste of time

I'm gonna shrink your thick skull right back down to size

I've seen the Light!

Now I'm gathering the Black Sheep

I'm calling all the prodigal sons to me

Recruiting for the day that we will be an army full of Black Sheep!

Charmed Life

This is a fun, Van Halen style song about the guardian angels who protect us at least until we make the decision to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. The title of the song was an idea given to me by Mark Arrington who sang on Break The Chains with us. It wasn't until a Bible study  with Pastor Joe Schiavone about God's Omnipetance and Omnipresence which branched off into a talk about guardian angels that I had inspiration to start writing lyrics to match the title. I really wanted something special to start the song and after some tinkering in the studio, Jeff and Dave came up with something pretty cool. I love the beginning because it starts totally different than any of our other songs. It reminds me of Sweet Child of Mine (on steroids).  The rhythm for the main riff was inspired by Randy Rhoads and the breakdown was definitely taken from the George Lynch playbook while the bridge leans towards the Ramones. Crazy mix huh? Wonderful harmony vocals by Jeff and Brad Pogue really beautify the melody over the crunchy verse riff. All of the solos are Dave, pushed to expand what he had written before coming in to record. His solos are always wonderfully melodic and memorable. This song is a blast to play live!

Guardian angels working overtime

Imagine all the twists and turns we take

Guardian angels at the speed of light

A sudden premonition you can't shake

Now I see why all of this has happened to me

It's not a charmed life. NO!

Guardian angels working overtime

Choices made in a reckless state of mind

Guardian angels at the speed of light

Waiting for the day that we decide

Now I see why all of this has happened to me

It's not a charmed life. NO!

Over my shoulder, the past is over

As I grew older, I knew I'd have to choose

Guardian angels counting down the days

Some grace 'til our acceptance of the truth

All this time, I thought I lived a charmed life

Even the blocks in the road, they felt to me like fate

All our lives fit perfectly in God's time

Now I can't wait to see what happens today

Never Letting Go
After the 1st CD was done, I was afraid I'd get serious writers' block but all these songs came bursting out of me and this was the first. I had promised my wife I would write her a song so the lyrics were initially about us. I then realized that her helping me come to Christ was just part of the story here. She knew about all my past discretions and loved me anyway. Jesus knew about ALL of our past sins and future sins and sacrificed himself for us in the greatest show of love EVER! So the verses are our love story, and she shares the choruses with Jesus, just like her forgiveness! I think the beginning sounds a bit like AC/DC, the verses like G'n'R and the choruses are pure radio rock like Cheap Trick. As my sister Gloria listened to a rough cut before we added solos, she said it sounded like the Beach Boys...??? I'll take that as a compliment! I think she was focusing on the backup vocals supplied by Jeff and Brad once again. They did a great job as well as did Dave Nichols on lead guitar who gave the solos a Neal Schon type feel.

You were always there but I was unaware
Too busy chasing down my dream
I was blinded by a lie, but when I opened my eyes
There was an angel waiting for me
You forgave me & you saved me from a life of sin that enslaved me
You're the only one ever loved me down to my soul
So rise and shine, I know you can be a light
You opened my eyes now I'm never letting go... Let's go!
That day at the bay, I decided then
When you showed me the Way to start again
You forgave me & you saved me from a life of sin that enslaved me
You're the only one ever loved me down to my soul
So rise and shine, I know you can be a light
You opened my eyes now I'm never letting go
You forgave me & you saved me from a life of sin that enslaved me
You're the only one ever loved me down to my soul
So rise and shine, I know you can be a light
You opened my eyes now I'm never letting go
You opened my eyes now I'm never letting go!

Drown Your Pain

This song (music wise) takes me back to the summer of 1982 when my friends and I first started driving, cranking the Scorpions on our way down to La Jolla shores and just generally having a great summer. The lyrics are about someone who is trying to cover up or numb their  inner pain by using drugs or alcohol instead of trusting the Lord, surrendering that pain to Him and letting Him heal them through His promises and Love. We've all had at least one friend who was just a mess in this way. Not many Christian songs mention in such graphic detail the depths to which we can sink. All the solos on this one are Dave and he just nails it! Great harmonies by Brad and Jeff as well. Jeff writes so many cool vocal parts to these songs and the line under the lead and big bridge toward the end is really what takes this song to the next level IMHO.

Remember that day I found you trying to drown your pain?

Covered in vomit on the bathroom floor again

Remember that night I found you trying to numb your brain?

Stoned at the club, I had to drive you back home again

Don't you try to drown your pain, it's not too late

Don't you try to drown your pain, there's a better way

Remember that day I found you trying fill your veins?

So high on a ledge and ready to fly away

Remember that time I found you trying to wash the stain?

Ready to fight all night to protect your shame

Don't you try to drown your pain, it's not too late

Don't you try to drown your pain, there's a better way

Remember that time I found you trying to drown your pain?

So deep in a bottle and I shared the gospel again

And I don't know if you agree or even listen

I'ts gonna be way too late when you depart

And if you don't feel you deserve what you've been given

It's just the kind of love that's in God's heart

So don't you try to drown your pain, Its not too late

Don't you try to drown your pain, there's a better way

Don't you try to drown your pain, it's not too late

'Cuz hell ain't a place where you can medicate

The Great Divide

The Great Divide is the difference between believers and non-believers both here on earth and in the afterlife. We only have so much time (before we die) to make our decision to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. The first verse is part of my testimony and the second is about living our lives in a way that others want the peace that we have in God's promises. This song is a high speed rollercoaster ride driven by our rhythm section taking us to the edge of punk rock territory and into melodic chorus land with a short stop in jam-ville! Once again, Jeff adds some beautiful vocal parts to the chorus to make it special. Steve adds his brand of wild soloing to keep us wondering what's coming next. Enjoy!

He kept piling those "coincidences" 'til I couldn't deny

The truth of God's existence and how empty was my life

It was time to decide, high time to decide

I wanna see you on the other side, one way to cross the great divide

Once you die, you travel to the other side, no way to cross the great divide

You say you're not responsible for those who close their eyes

Let them decide salvation on their own

But your relationship with God should shine a light

So bright they can't deny they've chosen wrong

I wanna see you on the other side, one way to cross the great divide

Once you die, you travel to the other side, no way to cross the great divide

Now it's time to decide, I said it's high time to decide!

That Old Man

My friend Vergil used this term one day while describing our never ending struggle with sin and I thought it would be a great song title. The Devil is hard at work, relentlessly throwing stuff in our way at the worst times, knowing each of our weaknesses as well. This is why it's so important to pray, have fellowship, read and know our Bible and lean on the Holy Spirit when Satan attacks. Musically, I was going for a Michael Schenker feel although I think it turned out much heavier with Jeff adding some really cool Alice In Chains type harmonies to the chorus. The solo section in the middle is highlighted by a moving bass line which lays the foundation for Steve to shine, shredding some great neo-classical guitar work. I think he captures the spirit of the battle between our old sin nature and our new life as citizens of Heaven. Enjoy!

I've been trying to change my style from excess to refrain

Gotta 86 me some old, bad habits, gonna re-direct my brain

Now I'm a rock and roll preacher, I'm a brand new creature

But that old man keeps pulling. He's stronger than you know

He's stubborn and unwilling to ever let you go

I've been taking the high road, I've been carrying a heavy load

Every day on the tight rope, any minute gonna explode

Cuz that old man keeps pulling. He's stronger than you know

He's stubborn and unwilling to ever let you go

Now I'm a double feature, a sinner and a brand new creature

But that old man keeps pulling. He's stronger than you know

He's stubborn and unwilling to ever let you go

Steal Your Thunder

When I wrote this song about using rock and roll (from the devil's toolbox) to spread Jesus' gospel, I almost immediately went $30,000 in the hole. Satan is the lord of this world and he is real! A bunch of stuff just came at me financially and it was stressful but I thought about the timing and realized that writing the song and pursuing this musical course must be quite a threat to Satan. So with determination, I trudged onward. This project has hit so many road blocks that it can't just be a coincidence! The Bible tells me that the good guys win in the end which gives me strength. About the song, the main riff is so neandrathal and heavy, leaving wide open spaces for Jeff's fired up fills, some nasty guitar shredding and a good, rockin' vocal melody. The bridge was inspired by the Foo Fighters and the chorus by Iron Maiden. Great guitar work by Steve on this one all the way to the end.

I am the dog that chews through the chain

I am the truth that drives you insane

I believe in the Son who will come back again

'said I believe in the Son that will come back to reign

I'm here to steal your thunder.

I'm gonna leave you to wonder "what ever happened to my rock and roll?"

I took the tunes from your toolbox

I know you thought it was locked

I'm gonna use it to win back souls!

I am a rider on the day of the Lord

I'll be right behind Him with shield and sword

This is His vengeance we are heading toward

This is His vengeance we are heading toward

I'm here to steal your thunder

I'm gonna leave you to wonder "What ever happened to my rock and roll?"

I took the tunes from your toolbox

I know you thought it was locked

I'm gonna use 'em to win back souls

You can plot your revenge in vain but the fact remains...

that I stole your rock and roll!

I stole your rock and roll! (repeat)

Cornerstone

I was inspired by the last two Stryper albums to write a powerful, heavy anthem to fire up whomever hears this song, believer or not. It's kind of a mix between Quiet Riots' "Bang Your Head" and the 1st reunion stuff Ozzy did with Sabbath, "Psycho Man" era. Steve Langdon just crushes the solo spots perfectly, including a very memorable lead on the breakdown before the last choruses. The main theme is once again the choices we make, the most important being the foundation of our belief system. Choosing Jesus Christ to be the cornerstone of that foundation (no matter how badly we have failed previously) is the smartest choice of all. God gave us the gift of free will... choices.

I was comatose from the overdose

I was so close to kissing it all goodbye

So I took a step back, back from the aftermath

And chose a new path from the beams of broken light

He is the cornerstone I chose for my foundation

Rejoice again I sing rejoice!

He is the cornerstone on the path to our salvation

He is a choice, again I say rejoice

Trembling grips the Godless

Terror from every side

No escape from their mistakes, no place to hide

He is the cornerstone I chose for my foundation

Rejoice again I sing rejoice

He is the cornerstone on the path to our salvation

He is a choice, JESUS CHRIST!

REMNANT ROCK CD  1/1/2016

Break The Chains

The first song we recorded for this project was called "Deal with the Devil" and it was about 6 1/2 minutes long with the chorus coming in really late at around 3 minutes in. Since we wanted the songs to be radio friendly, we edited "Deal" and "Break the Chains" is what we got. The bridge in "Deal" is what we used for our reprise "All You Need". The inspiration for this song is my experience in forgiving myself as I learned about what God wants for us and how I completely messed up previously, hurting so many people along the way. Our sins are already forgiven through Christ. We are commanded to acknowledge/name them and get on with our lives, glorifying Him. Mark Arrington and Jim Mills came in and added some really nice vocals on the Choruses with Jeff and Brad.

You make a deal with the devil & you’re gonna pay
He’ll haunt you and taunt you & lie to your face
He’ll reel you in nice and slow,
Let you feel like you’re stealing the show,
A standing O while he’s a-chipping away at your soul!
Your life is spinning like a whirlwind
You claim it’s out of your control
You learn to love that wicked tail-spin
Despite the pain you can’t let go
Break the chains and wash your sins away
In Jesus’ name you are forever saved
Break the chains and wash your sins away
Since Jesus paid, you are forever saved
Make a deal with the devil & you’re gonna pay
He’ll haunt you and taunt you & lie to your face
He never wants to let you go
When your soul is in his control
But the slate is clean, John 3:16!
Break the chains and wash your sins away
In Jesus’ name you are forever saved
Break the chains and wash your sins away
Since Jesus paid, you are forever saved
Break the chains and wash your sins away
In Jesus’ name you are forever saved
Break the chains and wash your sins away
Since Jesus paid, we're all forever saved

Ruthless

Our The Cult influence is pretty strong on this one and that's on purpose! This was the last song we finished for this CD and we did some different things with our background vocals that turned out pretty cool. The lyrics describe someone who is trying to impress others instead of concentrating on his spiritual growth.

You carry around all your insecurities
The past is the past, it's got nothing to do with me
Your tales and your braggadocio ring empty
Sounds more like a guilt trip from the guilty
You're tellin' everyone that you're ruthless
Sounds like your hearts' in the Devils hands
You're trying to impress all the faithless
Supplying all the lying to meet their demands
It's so important that you show your rage
and wake up on the right side of the stage
Just how many bridges will you burn?
How many lessons will you fail to learn?
You're tellin' everyone that you're ruthless
Sounds like your hearts' in the Devils hands
You're trying to impress all the faithless
Supplying all the lying to meet their demands
You're tellin' everyone that you're ruthless
Sounds like your hearts' in the Devils hands
You're trying to impress all the faithless
Supplying all the lying to meet their demands
You say you're ruthless, you say you're ruthless
I say you're chasing down a tragedy
Only God's truth will set you free

Two Wolves

We're all familiar with this American Indian proverb about feeding the correct wolf inside you to strengthen it and overpower the other. The good news is that the Holy Spirit is given to us. He lives within us to help us starve/combat the old sin nature as we make our decisions. The music for this one is inspired by KISS, The Cult, Foo Fighters, and Irelands' The Answer. The guitar solo is a direct nod to Ace Frehley. Jeff also gets a chance to shine on drums there in the middle section.

Indian man said to his son,
You got two wolves inside you. Better feed the right one
The first one is Sin. That one's, he's built in, but...
The new wolf inside you is a gift to guide you
The new Spirit inside you is a gift to guide you
The new wolf helps you control yourself
The new wolf helps you love everyone else
Love everyone else, love everyone else
The new wolf inside you is a gift to guide you
The new wolf inside you is a gift to guide you
The new Spirit inside you is a gift to guide you
The Holy Spirit inside you is a gift
It's never too late to change your ways, to make the best of the rest of your days
It's never too late to get some grace, embrace the new wolf!
embrace the new wolf!
The new wolf inside you is a gift to guide you
The new Spirit inside you is a gift to guide you
The new Spirit inside you is a gift to guide you

Cut You Loose

This song was written for a previous musical endeavor as I was researching Christianity, obviously making the choice to accept Christ's great gift of salvation. In the process,

I trimmed back my circle of influence and chose to concentrate on this project instead. The beginning is very mellow but what kicks in sounds a bit like a revved up Journey song with the break inspired by Black Label Society. This song is tuned to drop D. Cut You Loose is my favorite vocally because of the choruses and extended choruses at the end. You can't help but sing along!

I long for a time, remember the innocence of youth
Before the lines between black & white distorted the lies & the cold, hard truth
I wake to a world in chaos. Everyday it’s the same
Surrounded by voices who feed my bad choices but never wanna share in the blame
Gonna cut you loose cuz ya bring me down
Spinnin’ my wheels with the same old crowd
The only way I found to turn it around
Gotta cut you loose cuz you bring me down
Our past is not a prison. The bail is already paid
The Word is laid before me and my new life cannot be delayed
Gonna cut you loose cuz ya bring me down
Spinnin’ my wheels with the same old crowd
The only way I found to turn it around
Is to cut you loose cuz you bring me down
Gonna cut you loose cuz ya bring me down
Spinnin’ my wheels with the same old crowd
The only way I found to turn it around
Is to cut you loose cuz you bring me down
Gonna turn it around
I won’t let you drag me down
Gonna cut you loose cuz ya bring me down
Spinnin’ my wheels with the same old crowd
The only way I found to turn it around
Is to cut you loose cuz you bring me down
Gonna turn it around
(round and round and round and round)
I won’t let you drag me down
Gonna turn it around
(I once was lost, but now I'm found!)
I won’t let you drag me down

Venom

Musically this song is inspired by Kamelot, Iron Maiden and Michael Schenker and includes my favorite guitar solo (inspired by Randy Rhoads). It was very important to me to have a good month or so to practice these vocals and nail down that melodic, Metal style. The lyrics are two parts; the verses are the history of Satan, his choice to challenge his maker and his fall. The chorus is a prayer, asking protection from his evil snares and for direction under duress.

A choice made out of madness, an avalanche of sin.
The Guardian of Angels set the mutiny begin
So discontent and arrogant, blinded by the mirrors curse
The bright star of the morning comes crashing down to earth
Protect me from the venom of our enemy
Direct me to walk in Your will
Wake me when they try to re-write history
They won't take the truth from me
Lead me to strike or be still
So many ways to betray, in each man is a place
A weakness to exploit, a doorway out of Grace
We're innocent and ignorant and blind to Angelic games
While the bright star of the morning trades our victory for shame
One layer of faith at a time!
Protect me from the venom of our enemy
Direct me to walk in Your will
Wake me when they try to re-write history
They won't take the truth from me
Lead me to strike or be still
So Hell bent and arrogant, a dream that the fallen rise
The bright star of the morning will be burning in eternal lies
Protect me from the venom of our enemy
Direct me to walk in Your will
Wake me when they try to re-write history
They won't take the truth from me
Lead me to strike or be still

Deaf Revolution

This song is actually about 12 years old, a really Metal style, apocalyptic, sci-fi number where evil overlords use sound frequencies to control the masses. It was one of the first of my old songs I altered to a Christian theme. I worried that writing Christian Hard Rock songs was going to be difficult until I started reading the book of Revelation... very Metal! The Bible is full of some very ugly stuff, man's sin at the heart of most of it and also some of God's judgments can get pretty brutal as well. Our friend Fernando Ramirez came in and added his insane vocals to the center section which sounds like a war chant as it picks up and gets going. The song takes place after the rapture, during the tribulation. The music is inspired by Randy Rhoads.

Children of the short tomorrow rise!
Take hold the truth
Ignore the sound of twisted lies!
Witness the proof
Revolution, Revelation, Submission, Salvation
Children of the short tomorrow rise!
The hourglass turns
Ignore the sound of threats and lies!
As our world burns
Revolution, Revelation, Submission, Salvation
The Devil and his wicked tricks have ruled this world so long
The tools he uses mesmerize. Our eyes adjust to "wrong"
“Obey and behave or the tone will change
The sound in your brain will be in pain”
Revolution, Revelation, Submission, Salvation
Rev. 14: 9-11 "And then another angel, a third one followed them, saying with a loud voice, if anyone worships the beast and his image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he will also drink of the wine of the wrath of God which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger and he will be tormented with fire and with brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb and the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever..."

Weight of the World

We wanted to compliment the lyrical content with the heaviest riffs we could write in the vein of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir or Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio. This song is about trying to find happiness in accomplishing things or in doing good works, but realizing you're running in circles and unsatisfied with life. You need Christ. Period. The riff under the lead is borrowed from my old band and I really loved what my former band mate, Lead guitarist Tony Jenkins did with it originally so I asked him to come in and keep some of the same phrasing while adding some new, tasty licks all the way to the end of the song. Jim Mills' son Adam kept on saying I sound like OZZY so I added a line from "Over the Mountain" at the end where I sing "I'm free" in my best OZZY impersonation.

I’ve been carrying the weight of the world
And it’s heavier than Hell
I’ve been running around in circles
For as long as I can tell
I’ve been burning the candle
and I'm so burned out
It's more than I can handle
Carrying the weight of the world!
And I keep on pushing
I can see the profound all around
I can see it crystal clear
I've been watching the end unfolding
I see the hate & fear
I wanna get it all together
I need a reason to grow
But I can't let go
I'm carrying the weight of the world!
And I keep on pushing
And I keep on pushing and it's always up hill
I keep on pushing. It's a battle of wills
I’ve been carrying the weight of the Word
Like a bird on a summers day
Like a gust of wind when your ship comes in
And your troubles wash away
No more pushing, I'm carrying the weight of the world
No more pushing for me, I'm free!

Trashman

This is a song I wrote (the music) for a previous band but they said it sounded too much like The Scorpions... Yeah, who would want to be THAT successful!?!? So along with more musical inspiration from Cheap Trick and Billy Idol, a nice, tight Rock and Roll song about  letting God help you clean up your act.

I can't clean up your act
I’m not a trash man or a heart attack
I got no voodoo or emergency room
To fix all the trouble that you get into
But GOD can, GOD can, GOD can
Understand your misguided plans
I can’t cover up your crime
I’m not a prisoner to do your time
I got no hidden file for inside of your cake
To fix your bad decisions or help you escape
But GOD can, GOD can, GOD can
Understand the nature of man
He'll never give you nothin' you can't get through together
All things are possible!
When everything is riding on a horse called Heaven
Let your life be a miracle!
You know I can't clean up your act
I’m not a trash man or a heart attack
I got no voodoo or emergency room
To fix all the trouble that you get into
But GOD can, GOD can, GOD can
Understand when your hearts' in the Devils hands
All things are possible!
Let your life be a miracle!
GOD can, GOD can
Understand the nature of man

Glorify You

You may hear this in your church someday! It's our friendly little Beatles style church song with a break in the middle where I finally get to sing low like Johnny Cash! The lyrics are a vow to glorify Jesus in all we do. Things work out really well when you try.

I will Glorify You in everything I do
Through my thoughts and words and deeds
For I know Your love is true
I will put you Christ at the center of my life
I will put my faith in your living grace
You're the Way, the Truth, the Life
I will put my faith in your living grace
To get me through my darkest times
I accept you as my Lord and Savior
The Son of God, the overflow
I accept you as the One, Messiah
To whom all hearts will come to know
I will Glorify You in everything I do
Through my thoughts and words and deeds
For I know Your love is true
Breathe in the Gospel
Breathe out the guilt of sin
Breathe in Forgiveness
Let the Spirit in, Let the Spirit in, Let the Spirit in!
I will Glorify You in everything I do
Through my thoughts, my words and deeds
For I know Your love is true
I will put you Christ at the center of my life
I will put my faith in your living grace
You're the Way, the Truth, the Life
I will put my faith in your living grace
To get me through my darkest times

The Crimson Bridge

I think this was the first full Christian song I wrote... in my head... at work. It was intended to have the background sounds of an Irish pub and folks singing along but in this simple form, we decided that it was really nice as is. The lyrics are about making the choice to follow/believe/accept Jesus as your savior and provider.

When your path divides
And life makes you decide
The light of the day is not bright as the Way
That the Crimson Bridge provides
He looked to the sky and cried
Jesus sacrificed and died
From the Father above to the ones that He loves
A Bridge for all mankind
Follow the bridge to the other side; to the God of love, arms open wide
Follow the bridge to the other side; the way, the truth, the life
When you’re hurting so bad inside
From all of this worlds’ empty lies
The light of the day is not bright as the Way
That the Crimson Bridge provides
Follow the bridge to the other side; to the One true God, arms open wide
Follow the bridge to the other side; the way, the truth, the life
Follow the bridge to the other side; to the God of love, arms open wide
The light of the day is not bright as the Way that the Crimson Bridge provides

All You Need (reprise)

As mentioned before, this reprise is the bridge from the original "Deal with the Devil" song we recorded first. We also took the lead from in between the 1st & 2nd verses and used it here. The lyrics are again about filling your life with other "stuff" instead of God. Don't get me started about those little dogs people gotta carry around! The breakdown at the end really highlights how well Jeff, Brad Pogue, Mark Arrington and our friend Jim Mills sing together... like bloody angels man (in my best OZZY impression)!

All you need is a friend to help pretend in all the games you play
All you need is a pet to get you through the endless day
All you need is a sign to help you make up your mind
All you need is a kick! A kick from behind
Break the chains and wash your sins away
In Jesus’ name you are forever saved
Break the chains and wash your sins away
Since Jesus paid, you are forever saved
